The Best B&B We Ever Stayed In
My wife and I spend five nights at the B&B. We’ve been to many B&B’s over several years and none have topped this one. Tivago recognized this a one of the top 10 B&B’s in Canada.
The B&B has several rooms over three floors. The top floor has three bedrooms. There was a family with two children comfortably staying there. They had a an area where children could play. We were on the second floor with a balcony facing Cold Lake. The main floor sitting area was comfortably laid out and welcoming.
Breakfasts were always beautifully presented with quality, tasty food made by the owner Isabelle. She was able to take into account that I was diabetic.
We had the ability to come and go as we pleased day or night.
We had access to coffee, tea, and daily home-made sweets whenever we wanted them.
Isabelle is a retired nurse and had some clear reasonable COVID safety protocols in place to ensure our safety.
I believe our stay was reasonably priced. We would return to this B&B whenever we return to Cold Lake.
A Hidden Gem in Northern Alberta
Our group of 6 ladies had the opportunity to experience one of the best B & B’s in Alberta. From the moment we checked we were made to feel welcome and right at home. The selection of bedrooms made it difficult to choose and from our groups reviews they were all fantastic. Comfy and Clean is the top priority for a group. Isabella did not disappoint us. She and Shannon provided the most delicious and plentiful breakfasts. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and certainly plan to return someday.
Come for the location and ambiance, stay (and return!) for the breakfasts!
I had the immense pleasure of staying at the Waterfront Harbour while I was in the area on business this past August from the 19th to the 24th. Traditionally, I have stayed at the typical chain hotels for work in the past but decided to treat myself and do something a little bit different this time around. I am very glad that I did as it ended up being the highlight of my entire trip.
I will preface by saying that I am not the “typical” B&B guest and this was my first time having stayed at one. However, I knew that a Bed and Breakfast is not the same experience as staying at a hotel and I knew what to expect before I arrived. That said, my experience far exceeded any expectations I had. Isabel and Shannon were phenomenal hosts and were very instrumental in making my stay as enjoyable and as comfortable as possible. I really got a feeling that they were genuinely interested not only ensuring that everything with the room and breakfast was satisfactory but that everything about my stay was as pleasant and as enjoyable as possible.
I stayed in the Garden Room and truth be told, it was almost too big for my needs, but it was very comfortable and I had a great sleep in the Queen sleigh bed. Again, it was a bit of a departure from my taste and usual stays but the decor and furnishings made my stay feel more like I was at home rather than halfway across the country.
The “pièce de résistance”, however, was the breakfast. Let me first say that I have eaten at many fine dining establishments in many countries around the world, including Michelin rated. And while most of those haven’t been for breakfast, I do have a good grasp on the difference between a good and a great served meal is. Incidentally, at home breakfast is also my favourite meal! So while I didn’t have unrealistic expectations and am relatively easy to please, it takes quite a lot to impress me when it comes to food. I can say, without hesitation, that the breakfasts that were created by Isabel and Shannon was the finest and most enjoyable dining experience I’ve ever had from any accommodation I’ve ever stayed at. As far as breakfast goes, Cora, Eggspectation, Eggsuis… they are not even playing the same sport, never mind in the same league! The breakfast masterpieces I had were even better than the Easter brunch I had at Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego that , for 2 people, cost the same as an entire night’s stay including breakfast at the Waterfront Harbour B&B! Breakfasts alternated between sweet and savory each day and coffee and tea was available for self serve 24 hours, along with various different baked treats throughout the week.
I will make every effort to stay here again in the future (and plan on again shortly!) and will without question recommend the Waterfront Harbour to any friends, family and coworkers who will be staying in the Cold Lake area.
Long Term Stay
While working in the region I stayed at the Waterfront for three months (week days) and am sorry to say, its time to go. Isabel has been wonderful with her gentle nature, excellent hospitality it has been a really nice home away from home. The BnB has cozy rooms and I never went without anything. The other guests were always respectful, quiet and pleasant.
Cheers to Isabel, best wishes and I will gladly return.
